The value of the dollar is not backed by gold or silver. It's backed by confidence in the strength of the American economy. One measure of this strength has always been its buying power.
To return the country to a strong and vibrant economy you can help by purchasing quality products made in the USA. Exercise your power by checking the label and buying an American made product whenever possible. This action alone keeps your neighbors working. There are many points of view about why we as a country are in this situation. but the best advice is to accept it and move on to making things better. One of the wisest bits of advice I ever heard was from a co-worker who always looked at the practical side of the situation. You are where you are, now what are you going to do about it. Change whatever is in your power to change so the results are different. He called this "adjusting at the turn". Just like driving a car, you always make your adjustment back to the course you are following, at the turning point. In the current economy many find themselves in difficult situations, turning points. Best advice is adjust by changing the things you have control over and get back on course.
How to start...
Assess your skills and abilities. Begin contacting old acquaintances and develop a network you can use to find gainful employment. If you are reading this you already know how to use the most powerful tool developed to build relationships. Go online to forums and discussion groups with others who are in the same situation. They may have a contact who may be able to help just by knowing you and what you need.

In an economy like this one, there are always people looking to save money, so advertise where they read. Any skill or ability you have can be put in the form of a classified ad and posted for free on craigslist.com. The real bargain shoppers check craigslist first, looking to save money. Leave your price open and negotiate your best deal, it is better than unemployment.
Also, browsing ads on this site for services wanted can be produce leads as there are literally hundreds of job postings every day...from handyman to business manager they are all there.
Another favorite subject for me is making money online. A little research online will produce hundreds of listings for people looking for someone to do their writing assignments.
